Why Adopt a Caique?
Caiques (pronounced “kai-eeks”) belong to the genus Pionites and come in two species:
🦜 White-bellied Caique (Pionites leucogaster)
🦜 Black-headed Caique (Pionites melanocephala)
These medium-sized parrots, around 9-10 inches tall, are full of life and love. Their playful, mischievous nature makes them a joy to watch and interact with, but they also require a lot of attention, training, and enrichment to stay happy and healthy.
